Job Description:
As a Nursery Assistant/Teaching Assistant at CanDo Nursery, you will provide valuable support to the nursery teachers and contribute to creating a positive and stimulating learning environment for young children. Your role will involve assisting with various tasks and activities to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support nursery teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
  2. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized learning environment, including setting up play areas, arranging materials, and tidying up after activities.
  3. Supervise and engage with children during playtime, outdoor activities, and outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  4. Assist with daily routines, including meals, naps, toileting, and personal hygiene tasks.
  5. Help children develop social and emotional skills through positive interactions, encouraging cooperation, sharing, and respectful behavior.
  6. Observe and record children’s progress, behavior, and achievements, communicating relevant information to nursery teachers and parents as required.
  7. Assist with individualized support for children with special educational needs or specific requirements, following guidance from the nursery teachers.
  8. Collaborate with nursery teachers and other staff members to maintain effective communication and teamwork.
  9. Support children’s language development by engaging in conversations, reading stories, and encouraging verbal expression.
  10. Provide a warm and welcoming environment for parents or guardians, addressing their inquiries and providing updates on their child’s progress.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A genuine interest in working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Previous experience working with children in a nursery, preschool, or educational setting is preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, compassion, and the ability to create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for children.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and early years education principles.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work within a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Reliable and responsible approach to fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions from nursery teachers.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
